What’s going on with Paul Skenes

I’m sitting here watching my pathetic Giants take on the Pirates. This was a Skenes start against a team that’s looking to lose 100 games and you’d think this game would have the words dominant followed by performance in the headline for the Cy Young winner.

Well, a 5 spot in the second inning put an end to that headline.

With this bad start and his rocky season we’ve got to start to wonder and worry about his card market.

The age old rule in collecting cards is to avoid Catchers and Pitchers.

It’s a rule that’s been around so long that I’m surprised it didn’t make the Coach’s list of life rules in Teen Wolf.

Well here I was avoiding Pitchers and Catchers and life was like cream cheese until Mr. Skenes came along and just rocked the collecting world.

Cy Young awards and million dollar patch cards later and it felt like the obvious thing to do was sit on a lot of his rookie cards.

They were headed to the land of Ohtani’s after all.

Well, I’m here to tell you that I’m worried.

I’m really worried.

The card collecting world is a real what have you done for me lately community and Skenes is not looking like a center piece of your card collection at the moment.

But what can you do?

Panic!

You can panic sell and get out of the Skenes market as fast as possible.

You do that if you think this is the highest his floor gets and you can’t deal with the drop.

Me, I’m gonna hold.

He’s pitched like crap, but he should get some rest and I still believe he’s gonna be a stud next year.

His market should heat back up over the holidays if that philosophy changes.

But it’s worrisome. Very worrisome.

A reminder. Pitchers are pitchers and they get hurt. And we should be cautious with them.
