2026 Topps Chrome Blaster Review - Worth the Rip?

Topps Chrome 2026 is out and no matter how many times I promised myself I'd stay away from this product, I found myself at my local card shop with a couple blasters in hand. Such a wax junkie.

2025 Topps Chrome might be the worst product I've ever opened so buying this didn't make me feel all warm and tingly inside. But there are some things to look forward to.

1. Great rookie class

2. Smaller auto checklist

3. Wide open field in MVP Buyback

4. Did you see that rookie class?

I kept myself in check by limiting it to two blasters, even though that hobby was calling my name.  Was it worth it... Let's find out.

Blaster 1

Pack 1

We've got color... we've got color. It's blue and it's jumping out at me and it's... Ezequiel Tovar. Why do I do this? That was probably the hit of these two boxes and it's a Ezequiel Tovar.

Pack 2

Bust pack. Should probably get used to this.

Pack 3

My first perspective insert is an Acuna. It's a cool card. At first look it feels like a big card. That said, it feels like it's the type of card that the more you get it the more you start to resent it. That said, I was happy with this one.

Pack 4

This is it. The pack for the box. Mr. McG come on down. The rush of getting that big name rookie never dies. Pulling this was like pulling a Canseco or Bo Jax rookie back in the day. It's good to rip packs. To keep the good vibes going, a solid Will Clark Rivals rounded out this pack. Did I get my money back here? No. Not even close. But I had a great time opening this pack.

Pack 5

And another trash pack. Had to happen. Two in a row. Not with Chrome.

Pack 6

A pretty sweet looking Julio 91 card design. Will look good in the collection, but I gotta tell you. There's something about hitting these throw back 90's designs when the junk wax era was becoming more apparent that is sort of triggering.

Pack 7

If it's not well known, it should be that I have 0 last pack magic. That rule still applies here. Nothing to end the box.

The Verdict

First blaster review. Not great. No potential MVP buybacks. A numbered card, but a garbage one. But had a few packs that got the tingles tingling so not an entire bust.

Blaster 2

Pack 1

Mike Trout is the only thing worth mentioning here. Is Mike Trout still worth mentioning?

Pack 2

Nothing. Nada. Zip. Rough start.

Pack 3

What's that? Looks like some gold peaking through. It is! Jackson Holliday gold wave. If this were a year ago I'd been jumping up and down, but I'm still pretty stoked. I'm a believer still and I'm still excited to pull this dudes cards. Especially, that sweet, sweet gold border stuff.

Pack 4

Nothing. Knew that was coming off that last pack.

Pack 5

Trout Perspectives. Again, this is a cool card and I'll definitely add it to the PC.

Pack 6

Another Owen Cassie Rookie. These are starting to pile up in a bad way. How come it's never JJ or McG's flowing out of boxes?

Pack 7

Nada. Of course.

Box 2 I'd say was maybe a little more fruitful than box 1, but no top rookies or potential MVP buybacks makes it feel a bit underwhelming. All in all, a big card in the Holliday and I'm happy.

For this product, I'd say stay with these low cost boxes and try and have some fun. Save your money to buy singles of the players you want in a cool card. At $350 for a hobby and over $700 for a Jumbo (insane) you'd be better off buying a few really good singles and then ripping some blasters for fun.

Until next time...
